About CYA

The organizing committee of the CYA Retreat is a small group of young Christian adults from the Canadian Reformed Churches. If you would like more information about the Canadian Reformed Federation of churches, please visit the website www.canrc.org.

The idea of the CYA retreat came from the gap that is being seen between the young peoples age group and the women's and men's society age group. There is now a young adult culture that is prevalent in our community and this retreat is catered toward the people in that group. It is our hope that the CYA Retreats strengthen the fellowship of believers of this age group.

This retreat presents the opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with past acquaintances, we are there to praise God amongst the fellowship of believers. The primary purpose of the retreat is to praise and honour God through Bible study, prayer, discussion, singing, and fellowship. That is why each retreat includes three Bible-focused talks and three topic-focused discussions over the course of a Friday evening and Saturday. For those people that want to have a wonderful time with their Brothers and Sisters in the Lord praising God, please come! With this attitude, it will be an enjoyable time for all who attend.

We hope and pray that this year's CYA Retreat will be a success.

About the Retreat

When: November 25 - 26, 2011

Cost: $50 for Friday & Saturday; $40 for just Saturday (due when you arrive at the retreat)

About the Theme

Speech #1 - Rev. Jack Moesker
"Don't think you're so smart!"
About the effect of the fall into sin on knowledge. God alone knows everything and it's important to realize that there's a limit to what we can know and understand. That's humbling for us and also comforting when we run into things we don't understand and people who think they know it all. We'll consider passages such as Psalm 14, Rom. 1:22&28, Rom. 12:2, 1 Cor. 13: 12, and Eph. 4:17.

Speech #2 - Rev. Peter Feenstra
"Don't be so immature!"
We have all heard someone say, either to us or to someone else, "Don't be so immature!" As young adults, who have had years of schooling, we may have a great deal of knowledge up in our heads but how matue are we in the service of the Lord? This speech will take a closer look at 2 Peter 3:18 and Hebrews 5:11-6:4 and several other passages of Scripture that call us to maturity in Christ.
